'People are intimidated' - why 'unstoppable force' Arsenal have become the squad everyone fears.

It's obvious why Arsenal have become numerous fans' favorites to win the Premier League this season.

Examine their performances against Fulham and Crystal Palace in contrast with those same matches in the previous campaign.

The Gunners have overcome all of them this time around, but surrendered 10 points across those games as they faded in the title race in the prior campaign.

Impenetrable Defense

Arsenal's defensive solidity is a primary factor why they are looking well positioned to ultimately achieve their title goal.

They stand first for shutouts (6), shots let in (3), shots faced (72), dangerous chances allowed (19) and xGA (5.3).

The center-back duo of Gabriel and William Saliba is potentially the strongest in the league, with Arsenal recording a clean sheet in six of their first nine games.

Set-Piece Proficiency

Their effectiveness from free kicks is widely recognized, but competing clubs still find it difficult to stop the Gunners from these situations.

They have registered 11 times from set-pieces in the league, two more than any other side, with 69% of their goals resulting from these situations.

"Arsenal can excel in various aspects now. The whole team has a daunting aura. People are just afraid of them and it is excellent to see."

Championship Credentials

What is especially notable about Arsenal's beginning to the campaign is they have also faced Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United away from home and Manchester City on home turf - and are still leading by four at the top.

While they continue triumphing, their long-standing opponents are struggling. This marks the initial occasion at this point of the season since 1992 that none of Manchester City and United, Liverpool or Chelsea are in the Premier League top four.

The scrutiny was on head coach Mikel Arteta at the outset, having allocated around £250m on eight summer acquisitions in search of that elusive first title since 2004.

But the spending has so far proven successful in style, with his side second top scorers in the league and boasting the most resilient defense, despite multiple injuries.

  • Shutouts in each of their last three Premier League games
  • Over six hours without allowing a goal
  • Only three goals in 12 games across every tournament

Former players and analysts have characterized Arteta's men as a "powerhouse, looking difficult to stop" with the whole club now performing with confidence and purpose.
